Description
An exotic fruit tree bearing red oval fruit, when fresh have the taste and texture of an apple, but when dry they taste like dates hence its other common name “Chinese Date”. There is a single stone within the fruit which makes processing easy. Easy to grow. Self fertile. There are thorns that may or may not keep the raccoons out of the tree. Large seed often bears twins.

How to germinate Ziziphus jujuba seeds:
Soak in hot tap water, let cool & stand in water for 48 hours. Cold stratify in moist peat (4C) for 7 days. Once stratification period over, sow in a resealable baggie containing equal parts moist sand & peat. Should germinate in 10-60 days. Prick out and transplant into deep nursery pots. Habitat: full sun; well draining soil. Used in TCM. Drought tolerant. Sweet plum like fruit; use fresh or dried. Self fertile
