From the dappled woodlands of Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia, USA, this uniquely coloured bronze trillium always receives double takes.  Lovely patterned leaves on this sessile-type.

How to germinate Trillium seeds:

Seed sown in late summer/fall readily germinate in spring. Whereas spring sown Trillium seed typically germinates by late September. Stored in moist medium, its best to add a little more moist medium and keep in the side compartment of your fridge at 2-4C until you are ready to sow. When you are, sow seed 5mm deep with a thin layer of mulch. Sowing medium should be humus rich well draining and slightly acidic. Never let fall sprouting seedlings freeze. We keep our trillium pots in an unheated greenhouse over the winters and bloom time can be reduced by a year or two. Never give the kids strong hot sun and poor dry soils. Prefers dappled shade and cool locations.
