How to germinate Hosta seeds:
Seedlings detest small containers as roots/developing roots need to expand. Use a well draining gritty medium. Sow thinly. Barely cover seed with a scant layer of grit as light is needed for germination. Mist well and mist daily. A clear well fitting plastic cover to maintain humidity enhances success. Should germinate in 21-35 days given gentle warmth of 25-28C. Leave seedlings be until they’re sturdy enough to handle. Can grow in pots for first year until ready for the garden. Don’t let medium to dry out. Very rewarding. Protect from deer and slugs.
