Description
No culinary garden would be complete without this sweet flavourful aromatic herb. Makes a very large clump where its large leaves are constantly being pushed out. Being a carrot family member, the tap root can be deep and massive which is exactly what is need for steady repeat harvests of its large fragrant leaves. Can be used in almost any dish and a great substitute for cilantro (ick). Biannual in mild climates; annual in zones colder than zone 6 without protection. Very easy to grow. Needs more shade if grown in a warmish-hot site.

When allowed to flower, the tall umbels of flowers fills the air with its vanilla scent and is a beacon to many nectar seekers. Will self sow.

How to germinate Italian flat-leaf parsley seed:
Direct sow is best or use deep nursery pots to accommodate the deep roots. Sow 4mm deep when soil is workable in the late winter/early spring. Water gently daily if the conditions will make the soil might dry out. Germinates in 14-30 days at 10-15C. Prefers at least half day of full sun and humus rich fertile moist soil is best for lush flavourful leaves and many sprig harvests. Will self sow.
