Description
Floss flower is an old time favorite to annual flower gardens. Bloom is continuous until taken by frost. We hope to have a greater colour diversity next year besides white as we only had a few trial plants. Easy to grow and a great filler for any garden gaps without much planning or commitment as needed with perennials. Bees love it and apparently its deer proof. Ideal for busy gardeners who have already maxed out their schedules.

How to germinate Ageratum houstonianum seeds:
Start 4-6 weeks before last spring frost. Prepare a nice well draining fertile moist medium. Best to start in plug trays or cells so you can plop them in the garden when they’re up to size (they do grow quickly). Fill containers, sow thinly! Press seed into medium, mist well. Do not cover seed with medium as it needs light to germinate. A clear dome or similar will help maintain humidity. Mist daily with warm water. Give consistent 22-25C to germinate. Should start germinating in 5-10 days. Do not let emerged seed roots drying. When bits of green were seen I took a fine soil sieve and tapped some dry medium onto the wee plants just to barely cover then misted. This helped keep roots covered.
