40 days. An East Indian heirloom summer squash known for its earliness, productivity and rich nutty flavour. Near 1 lb slightly flattened globes have a buttery yellow skin and dense pale yellow flesh.  Great for home or market. Very good disease resistance.  Bush type. C. pepo.

How to germinate Desi squash seeds:

Sow 5 cm deep. Opt. germ temp 22-25C. Days to germ: 5-10. Habitat: full sun; deep evenly moist fertile well-draining soil. Space 2m part. Start outdoors after frost danger passes or start indoors 3 wks before transplant. Bushy compact plants. Containers okay. Desi translates as “from India”.
