Description
70 days. (Cucumus melo) A compact short season cultivar ideal for containers if you lack space in the garden or are restricted to a patio. Prolific bearer of delicious fragrant sweet fruits small enough for one person. Ripe fruits slip from the vine. Extremely thin skins, so there’s not much to toss in the compost. Can climb. Fresh, canned, frozen, sweet spiced pickled
One of my gardening joys when spinning honey from our hives is to eat one (or more) as a refreshing decedent treat by filling the empty seed cavity well with hive warm honey. Melon, honey, spoon, face. Very messy, but life doesn’t get any better.

How to germinate Minnesota Midget Cantaloupe melon seeds:
Best when direct seeded in warm moist soil after the danger of frost has passed. Plant 6-8 seeds 1″ deep in 12″ diameter hills spaced 6′ apart each way. After germination pinch off all but 3-4 of the strongest seedlings. We baggie sow in moist medium of sand/peat mix and place in a warm spot. Prick out seedlings and transplant into deep pots. As they grow in the greenhouse gaining strength and size, get the beds ready so when you set plants outside, you already have a jump start to the season of fresh fruit straight from the vine! True OMG moments. If starting inside, start 4-6 weeks before last frost. Keep soil warm and moist. Don’t let seedlings become root bound.
