This rare walnut cultivar is a hybrid between English/Carpathian (J. regia) and Black walnut (J. nigra). Its genetics lean more toward the is English heritage with paper thin easily cracking shells and well filled nuts. There is enough J. nigra genes to impart superior walnut blight resistance, drought tolerance, vigorous growth, cold tolerance and the nut meat is easily removed from the shell. Taste is a little more robust than English walnut and it has a notable caramel flavour. Very nice.
