Description
“Dermis” seedling. Mother tree is a cold hardy variety produces heavy harvests of superior nuts. A result of three EFB resistance breeding programs. Pollen from the Geneva, NY program was crossed with an extremely cold hardy Manitoba native hazelnut (C. americana) to give “Skinner”. In turn, a “Skinner” tree was pollinated with EFB resistant trees in Niagra-on-the-Lake, Ontario to give “Dermis”. Dermis is superior to its Skinner mother giving +18lbs of nuts per tree. Dermis is highly resistant to multiple strains of EFB from its C americana parent, is midsize with a nice spread for easy harvesting both by hand & mechanical. Good pollinator. With its history, we expect is superior lineage to continue in this seedling.
