How to germinate Pinus koraiensis seeds
Soak 24 hours. Sow in a sturdy baggie (preferred method for Pines); in a medium of sifted fine bark mulch. If you cannot obtain fine shredded bark mulch, mix up a moist medium of equal mix of 20-30 grade silica sand and hand milled peat moss. Warm stratify 60 days. Keep moist. Never let medium dry out or you will mess up the embryos. Then give 90 days of cold stratification. Germinates promptly when given 15-20C. Either sow fully stratified seed or continue with the baggie and prick out & transplant the kids. No need to scarify.
