Description
This beautiful flowering deciduous tree’s native range is from Italy to Turkey. It is the only Ash member with masses of fluffy white flowers with petals very similar to a Fringe tree and the dense clusters of a Japanese lilac. Profuse bloom brings in many pollinators. Nice attractive rounded crown suitable as a specimen, street tree and a shade tree for larger gardens. Matt blue-green pinnate leaves turn yellow to orange red in the fall. It is susceptible to ash borer.

How to germinate Fraxinus ornus seed:
Soak seed 12-24 hours. Place seed in a resealable baggie with damp-moist medium and cold stratify at 2-5C for 3 months in the fridge or somewhere appropriate. Once cold stratification cycle is over, place baggie in a warm site (20-25C). Prick out seedlings are they germinate. Never let medium dry out. Give strong indirect light. Alternately, seed can be sown in the fall outdoors for spring germination.
