Prok, a self fertile 90 chromosome American Persimmon, is seedless, to produce seed Szukis is the pollen parent. Prok x Szukis crosses continue to be used have by breeders to produce seedlings with a high percentage (75%) of self fertile female progeny. This is due to Szukis’ mosaic chimera nature if it having two distinct genomes.
Seed is from Red Fern Farm.
Can start producing fruit 5-7 years. Long lived to +100 years. There is an agreement that seeded fruit are not only tastier than seedless, the fruits tend to be larger, greater yields and you produce your own seed from superior parents.
