Description
An absolutely stunning sessile type trillium from the PNW. We were lucky to have this trillium in the grab-bag mix from a seed exchange. It took us several years to ensure proper identification. There are several more from this grab-bag that require proper ID. Natural range is from Washington to California. Needs moist humus rich acidic soils and dappled shade for optimal happiness.

How to germinate Trillium albidum seeds:
Dry seed. Soak 12-24 hours. You might want to remove the elaiosome by gently rubbing in a cloth. I’ve had very good germination when this wasn’t removed. Our spring sown Trillium seed typically germinates by late September. Sow seed 5mm deep with a thin layer of mulch. Sowing medium should be humus rich well draining and slightly acidic. Never let fall sprouting seedlings freeze. We keep our trillium pots in an unheated greenhouse over winter. This reduces bloom by a year or two. Never give the kids strong hot sun and poor dry soils. Prefers dappled shade and cool locations.
