How to germinate Tricyrtis hirta seed
Needs 60 days of cold stratification. Best to direct sow in fall or early spring. Surface sow onto moist, well-draining medium. Mist in for optimum seed-medium contact. Do not cover seed; needs light is needed for germination. Mist daily to keep moist. A clear plastic cover will greatly increase success. Autumn warmth, followed by winter cold should break dormancy. If your timing is not perfect, you can cold stratify in the fridge for the required 60 days. Once cold stratification complete, give 18-20C, light and daily mistings. Should germinate in 4-6 weeks.
