Description
Delicate looking native lily that forms a good sized clump 1m wide and equal height. Thick wiry stems hold foliage high. White trumpet flowers dangle from stem tips in two’s or threes. Orange-scarlet berries follow. Makes a nice clump and slowly spreads over time via seed and rhizome. Prefers shady woodland conditions but can tolerate a few hours of direct sun. A tough herbaceous perennial. Root ball is very dense and will not let other plants push through easy. Grows quickly from seed. Drought tolerant when established. Formerly Disporum hookeri

How to germinate Prosartes hookeri seeds:
Soak seed 24-36 hours. Barely cover seed with humus rich medium, keep moist and don’t let seed freeze. Should germinate in a couple of weeks at 10C. In the garden, the seed germinates within weeks of hitting the ground. Does well in pots, just sow in humus rich free draining medium (in a deep pot) and barely cover seed. Sprouts readily when baggie sown.
