Description
Stronger bergamot scented and taller than its shade loving Bee Balm cousin (Monarda didyma). Being from the prairie grasslands, this perennial naturalizes well in sunny sites and ordinary soils. Dense mop-head clusters of pale mauve blooms are extremely attractive to hummingbirds and other nectar seekers from June to frost. Add leaves and/or flowers to your tea for your own Earl Grey or herbal tea blend. Tolerates seasonal drought well. Disease resistant. Our plants are from seed collected from the Alberta prairie. Grows to 1 meters. Strong wiry stalks hold up to windy sites.
