Description
I’ve only stumbled across a few of these beauties in my travels and have always paused to admire the dark green leaves marked with white. Never had the pleasure yet to catch it in bloom. But this year we stumbled across a nice population with forming seed capsules. Now we have started collecting. In the same area we are also collecting Groundcone and Prince’s Pine (mesic site predominately Douglas fir, salal and Oregon grape).
It is a terrestrial orchid with a secure widespread distribution throughout North America. A single flowering stalk emerges from the center of a basal whirl of patterned leaves that rival Cyclamen in their beauty. White flowers open in sequence starting from the bottom giving bumblebees, their primary pollinator, an extended forage period.
Seed will be shipped in a vial. Decant seeds using a natural bristle brush to place onto medium substrate.
