Description
This precocious French heirloom never disappoints with its large, 2 cm thick spears. Prolific and produces spears earlier in spring than most varieties. Ultimate variety for white asparagus. Excellent flavour. Long lived perennial so plan when seating these as moving roots is a major pain. Companion plant with tomatoes.

How to germinate Precoce d’ Argenteuil Asparagus seeds:
Soak seed 24-48 hours. Sow them in a baggie or thinly in a flat or pots. We baggie sow ours with the seed wrapped in moist coffee filters (see demo on our facebook page) and put on gentle warmth (20C). Germination starts around the fifth day. Because of the quick success in this technique we don’t use any other method but direct sowings can take weeks. When growing its best to have a rich medium to size up the roots quickly. Best medium to use is a humus rich one with a little perlite and compost added. Medium should be just on the moist side not overly wet. Don’t provide strong indirect light, dappled shade is best. Transplant out to permanent bed. NEVER use fresh manure in the spring as this will burn the roots. Heavy feeders
