Description
Beautiful deciduous magnolia native to Japan’s mountains. White fragrant flowers in mid April have a light pink stripe clothe the tree in a massive display. Small shapely leaves. Nice tree overall with pyramidal form. One of the parents of the Loebneri hybrids. Firm petals don’t mope in Spring rains nor succumb to Spring frosts. Mature plants are covered in bloom. Very hardy and problem free. Scarlet knobby seed pod/cones in the fall. Often used as root stock for grafting.
