A reliable stable cross between Red Russian and Siberian kale. Leaves aren’t quite as deeply divided or frilled as the Red Russian but the purple veining in the broader leaves is beautiful. Hardy thick leaves are super tender after a frost and more so during the spring flush of leaves. Will overwinter with little or no protection in zone 6. Great in soups, stews, as chips, salads (I love kale, potato, cucumber salads dressed with a pumpkin seed oil vinaigrette with GARLIC!) and much more. I would have more seed if the gate was closed…so you can say this kale is deer approved.
