This PNW native perennial looks very much like a tall white flowered Astilbe with its graceful plume-like flowers. Often resides in dappled shade along stream banks or other moist areas. Lovely tan coloured seed capsules are arranged in such a way it looks like fine cedar bark braiding. Gendered. Much loved by bumblebees.

How to germinate Aruncus dioicus seed:
Soak seed 24 hours; change the water several times. Thinly sow and barely cover. Keep moist. Give cool temps for 3 months. Should germinate in 4-6 wks given gentle warmth. Needs acidic humus rich evenly moist soil.
