Description

Paeonia lutea var ludlowii is known by its common name “Tibetan Tree Peony”.  It is the only species tree peony with clear yellow flowers.  Sweetly scented, it will bring in bees searching for pollen.  Bright green cut foliage.  I’ve seen specimens taller than the 2m height.   Near maintenance free and tough as nails. Only prune out woody growth that is damaged. Blooms on new growth emerging from old wood.  Drought tolerant when established. Deer resistant.  Does well in full sun and dappled shade, but blooms last longer in shaded sites. Seed grown by us. Organic. Mycorrhizae treated.

  • Hardiness zones: 4-9
  • Height x Width: 2m x 2m
  • Plant type:  multi-stemmed woody shrub
  • Habitat: Semi sun; well draining acidic soils
